LDAP（轻量级目录访问协议）是一个用于访问目录服务的应用协议，它运行在TCP/IP堆栈的上一层，采用简单的编码方法，并提供了便捷的方式来连接到互联网目录，特别是基于X.500的目录服务，并对它们进行搜索和修改。LDAP是一个开放的、中立的，并且具有工业标准的应用协议，它采用客户端-服务器模式。

该协议主要针对管理应用程序和提供对目录读/写操作的浏览器应用程序。
