ONLYOFFICE 7.5 is Now Available!
======
ONLYOFFICE 7.5 release adds much-needed upgrades like a new PDF editor.
The [open-source Microsoft Office alternative][1], ONLYOFFICE, is a popular choice in the FOSS community. It stands out because it provides plenty of useful features in a compact package.
We had taken a look at the [ONLYOFFICE 7.4][2] release earlier this year, that introduced many improvements.
Just a few months later, we've got another release that's got a lot of new stuff in it.
Let's see what the **ONLYOFFICE 7.5** release has to offer.
📋
You can find the same improvements for both ONLYOFFICE Docs (online), and ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors. The UI might look a bit different for them.
We tested the ONLYOFFICE Docs 7.5 demo provided by the developers before its release.
### ONLYOFFICE 7.5: What's New?
The key highlights of the release include:
* **PDF Editor**
* **New Features for Presentation**
* **Automatic Hyphenation**
* **Spreadsheet Improvements**
* **Enhancements for Document Editor**
#### PDF Editor
![][3]
A new PDF editor has debuted with this release that lets you **highlight, underline/strike-through text** , **add annotations** , **fill forms** , and even **draw in a PDF**.
The devs have also mentioned that **collaborative editing of PDF files** will be added in the near-future.
![][4]
#### New Features for Presentation
![][5]
A new ' **Morph'** transition was added to the Presentation app that allows for the animating of a smooth movement of elements from one slide to the next.
It can be applied to words, objects, and characters. Furthermore, you can now **set names to objects** to easily find them on other slides.
#### Automatic Hyphenation
![][6]
After many requests from users, ONLYOFFICE now **supports automatic hyphenation of text** in the document editor.
This is set to **result in better authoring of documents** , without having to manually hyphenate words at the end of a line.
#### Spreadsheet Improvements
![][7]
It is now possible to **insert page breaks to divide a worksheet** into separate pages for printing purposes.
You can also **add images to headers/footers** to customize the top and bottom margins.
![][8]
Another interesting bit: **a new Trace Precedents/Dependents feature** graphically displays and tracks the relationships between multiple cells and formulas with tracing arrows.
#### Enhancements for Document Editor
![][9]
A new advanced setting was added that enables ' **Smart Paragraph Selection** '. When active, a paragraph symbol is automatically added to any selected paragraph for better handling of the layout of a document.
#### 🛠️ Other Changes and Improvements
![][10]
Here are some other notable refinements:
* **Various improvements were made to the 'Content Controls' feature in the document editor.**
* **When opening CSV files, the last selected settings, delimiter, and encoding are now restored.**
* **It is now possible to drag/drop rows and columns to move them within a spreadsheet.**
* **A new 'Hide Equation Toolbar' setting was included for improving the user experience.**
* **Extended 'Open Recent' section to easily access another document.**
You may also go through the [release notes][11] for the desktop editors to know more about this release.

Peppermint Mini: A Lightweight Distro With All The Essentials
======
A mini edition of Peppermint OS.
As one of the [most lightweight and flexible Linux distros][1] around, Peppermint OS has been a good choice for those who want a Linux distro that takes up less space, with the freedom to tweak their experience as they like.
The recent release of [Peppermint OS][2] features [Debian 12][3] release at its core. It included important improvements that resulted in better performance.
However, it seems that was not the end of it. The developers have introduced a new variant of Peppermint OS “ **Peppermint Mini** ” that allows for more control over the distro with **a tiny ISO size**.
Allow me to show you around.
### Peppermint Mini: What to Expect?
![][4]
Peppermint Mini is **an alternative to the fully-fledged Peppermint OS ISOs** that comes in at a very compact **100-180 MB** size. These “Mini” builds use the Debian installer for performing a [net installation][5].
According to the developer:
> These builds are intended for that user who really wants to control how their installs are conducted.
> If you are familiar with the Debian installer you will be right at home here, but with a Peppermint take…
They have made **32-bit/64-bit builds** in two distinct flavors, **Debian** and **Devuan**.
The installer follows a familiar approach to what you find on the main Peppermint OS builds, but with **the difference being in the ability to choose things** such as the **desktop environment** , **the init system** , **zonedstorage server** , and more.
**Interested in a sneak peek?**
Well, I took the Devuan flavored mini ISO for **a test run** , and I was impressed. Allow me to show you what Peppermint Mini has to offer.
When I started the installation, the usual Language/Region options showed up, after setting that up, the installer started to configure the network automatically.
![][6]
It then presented me with mirrors from around the world to download the Devuan archive.
![][7]
I picked the recommended one – 'deb.devuan.org' mirror, so I went with it.
![][8]
The installer began to install the key installer components, it was slightly slow for me. You can try a different mirror of your country to get faster speeds.
But, that could depend on the routing of your ISP, so I can't blame the servers.
![][9]
Post that, I was able to set up the root password, user, and the user password. This was the same as on the conventional build of Peppermint OS.
After all that, the Partition disks step showed up, I chose the 'Guided' mode, and it took me through allocating spaces without any issues. Again, this was the same as on the usual installer.
![][10]
The base system started installing, and it took its time, but it was done. Though, the 'Debian' variant was faster on this stage when I had tried that out.
![][11]
Thereafter, I got the **options to select the software** I wanted on the system. I went with the pre-selected options, as you can see below.
There were also options for **other desktop environments** such as **Xfce** , **Budgie** , **GNOME** , **MATE** , **LXDE** and **LXQt**.
I could also opt for **zonedstorage server** , **web server** , and **SSH server** , but I skipped over those.
![][12]
As I was installing the Devuan flavor of Peppermint Mini, I got options to choose from three different init systems, **sysvinit** , **openrc** , and **runit**. Whereas, **for Debian** , there was **only systemd**.
Of course, if you do not want systemd, there are other [systemd-free distros][13] as well.

![][14]
![][15]
The installation got completed quite smoothly thereafter, and I was able to boot into Peppermint OS without any hiccups.
![][16]
**So, wrapping up.**
Peppermint Mini can be **a viable option if you want more control over your Peppermint OS installation**. Just ensure that your internet connection is up to the job.
You can go through the [official announcement][17] to know more about it.
### 📥 Get Peppermint Mini
You can get **32-bit** and **64-bit** versions of Peppermint Mini in either **Debian** or **Devuan** flavors. I highly suggest you head over to the [official website][18] and grab the image of your choice.

qBittorrent 4.6.0 Release Adds Experimental I2P Support for a More Private Experience
======
qBittorrent 4.6.0 makes it a privacy-focused upgrade with its initial
I2P support and other useful improvements.
qBittorrent is **a popular cross-platform, open-source BitTorrent client** written in native C++ that also leverages the Qt 6 toolkit for providing a **no-nonsense torrenting experience**.
qBittorrent is also one of the [best torrent clients for Ubuntu][1]. I have personally used it for quite a few years to source things such as distro ISOs and other official software torrents.
Now, a new release has arrived in the form of **qBittorrent 4.6.0** , I am excited to see what this release has to offer.
Join me as I take you through this expansive release.

## 🆕 qBittorrent 4.6.0: What's New?
![][3]
This release of qBittorrent seems to focus on the security and visual side of things, even though there were plenty of other changes with this release, we are focusing on the highlights.
Some key ones include:
* **Experimental I2P Support**
* **Visual Improvements**
* **Better RSS Support**
* **A Security Notice**
### Experimental I2P Support
Finally, qBittorrent has support for I2P. This was **a long-awaited feature** that many had requested. Even though it has been implemented in an experimental fashion, future releases should be better.
For those who are not familiar, [**I2P**][4] is short for the “ **Invisible Internet Project** ”. It is a fully encrypted private network layer that enhances the privacy of a user by using **encrypted unidirectional tunnels** between the user and their peers to transfer data.
In doing so, it **also hides the activity** and **location of the user** , in turn preventing third parties from snooping in or even blocking access.
If all the above tech jargon is too much, then take I2P as **a feature that hides your internet traffic on peer-to-peer networks** , preventing anyone from tracking or blocking you.
### Visual Improvements
![][5]
qBittorrent now features **UI editor support for the default theme** , with various UI theming improvements across the board.
They also allowed the **use of other icons in dark mode** , with **a new tag editing dialog for torrents**.
Furthermore, **a new torrent list filter** was added to sort torrents by 'save path', and an option to **add new torrents to the top of the queue**.
### Better RSS Support
![][6]
Many improvements for RSS feed has also arrived with qBittorrent 4.6.0. So, things such as **allowing the editing of an RSS feed URL** , **a new “Add Tags” field for RSS rules** under Web UI, and **a “Rename rule” button for RSS Downloader** were added.
### A Security Notice
![][7]
The developers of qBittorrent have also issued an important security notice for users of Web UI. They mention the following:
> WebUI users YOU MUST change the default Webui credentials (aka "adminadmin") when exposing the WebUI to the Internet.
> There are reports([1][8], [2][9], [3][10], [4][11]) that this is possibly exploited in the wild. This will be remedied in a followup release where the default credentials will be disabled and a credentials change will be forced.
I highly suggest you heed their warning, as this could result in some pretty gnarly security breaches.
### 🛠️ Other Changes
The above-mentioned just about sums up the highlights of this release. As for the rest, here are some notable ones:
* A new shortcut was added for the “Ban peer permanently” function.
* Revamped “Watched folder options” and “Automated RSS downloader” dialogs.
* New options were added for configuring the behavior of merging trackers into an existing torrent.
* On the Windows side, only Windows 10 and later will be supported from this release onwards.
* macOS builds are now self-signed in a bid to help with the permissions dialogs.
You can go through the [official release notes][12] to dive deeper.
