How to easily backup and reuse data of Firefox and Chromium
================================================================================
The web and its content are playing a critical highly-relevant role in the users' IT lives, web containing websites, music, video, images, documents, books.
In Ubuntu, the user can hassle-free install the open-source [Chromium](apt://chromium-browser) web-browser, web-browser that, packed with Ubuntu's default Firefox, offer a powerful solid manner of digesting web content.
There are numerous situations when the user must move the data gathered by Chromium and Firefox, in order to utilize it under other Ubuntu installations, other computers (located in different physical non-home locations), as well as to save the data, in oder to avoid faulty situations (harddisk damages, physical lost of one's computer, etc).
While there are several sync-based services and tools, the below-presented method offers a quick, fast, reliable and always accessible manner of immediately (re)using the data gathered by Chromium and Firefox (data meaning web history, passwords, download history, bookmarks, etc, essentially, everything done with Chromium and Firefox).
The method is (as applicable to saving data to a USB stick):
- navigate to the home folder and hit the `Ctrl+H` buttons, action that reveals the hidden folders
- copy the `.mozilla` folder to the USB stick
![](http://iloveubuntu.net/pictures_me/mozilla%20wed%20data%20backup.png)
- inside the `.config` folder, copy the `chromium` folder to the USB stick
![](http://iloveubuntu.net/pictures_me/chromium%20web%20data%20backup.png)
The result: a USB stick containing the `.mozilla` and `chromium` folders.
Copying the from-the-stick `.mozilla` and `chromium` folders to a new Ubuntu installation (or old) in their locations (`.mozilla` under the home folder, `chromium` under `.config`,--delete the old about-to-be-replaced `.mozilla` and `chromium` folders--) and opening Firefox and Chromium **allow** the user to enjoy their full web data, therefore, removing sync services, advanced complicated methods, potential unavailabilities, etc.
The USB stick can be replaced with a preferred disk partition, serving also as a backup for unwanted situations.

MineSweeper Touch enriched with beautiful Suru elements
================================================================================
Design is a vital part of Ubuntu's next-generation components, design being progressively yet-already-visible implemented in areas, elements, widgets, etc, overall design energy taking the next-generation components of Ubuntu to a superior, modern, innovative level.
Part of the official design process is Suru, essentially, a set of visual patterns expressed through colored backgrounds, interesting shapes and chic, stylish blocks, resulting (when utilized) truly beautiful applications.
Suru is a first-class citizen in the official core applications, yet, there are also third-party applications already using various Suru variations, among which MineSweeper Touch.
[MineSweeper Touch](https://launchpad.net/minesweeper-touch) is a now-fancy game incarnating the lovely classic MineSweeper game into an Ubuntu SDK interface; recently, MineSweeper Touch was enriched with a definitely interesting look & feel, incorporating the modern Suru style into its views.
The result: launching MineSweeper Touch, the user is to notice the purple background sustaining the rounded red-to-purple square blocks, white-ish when-unveiled blocks, distinct container for blocks, as well as carved areas where the game's details are exposed.

The implementation of Suru style takes the minesweeper game to a superior level in terms of perception and identity, pleasing the eye with beauty while challenging the brain with its action.
MineSweeper Touch's code is available on [https://code.launchpad.net/~flscogna/minesweeper-touch/trunk-1](https://code.launchpad.net/~flscogna/minesweeper-touch/trunk-1)

Powerful ebook editor Sigil moved to new development area, looking for code contributions and active participation
================================================================================
Sigil is a free open-source WYSIWYG ebook editor, permitting an advanced ebook editing via a filled-with-controls yet intuitive interface.
Among its features, Sigil comes with:
- multiple views (book, code, preview)
- full UTF-16 support
- ability to directly edit book syntax
- table-of-contents creator with multi-level heading support
- more than 200 available entries in its metadata editor
- spell checking
- support for find & replace
essentially, a significant amount of features.
![](http://iloveubuntu.net/pictures_me/sigil%20code%20participation.jpg)
Yet, it seems that presently Sigil is traversing an unfortunate road, namely, its lack of code participation and involvement.
Today, the main Sigil maintainer [announced](http://sigildev.blogspot.ro/2013/09/sigil-status.html) that Sigil "has zero outside contributors as of now", being "on life support" due to inexistent participation to the project.
As a consequence, the developer has moved the development of Sigil on GitHub (from the now-old Google Code), hoping that the new development area,--GitHub--, will attract new interested developers willing to contribute code to the powerful ebook editor, "to help with gaining contributors I've decided to move the project to GitHub".
The new open-for-participation location is available on [https://github.com/user-none/Sigil](https://github.com/user-none/Sigil)
"That's pretty much where Sigil is a this point. I can't say where it will go in the future but my hope is more people will contribute with the move to GitHub and Sigil will continue to grow".
